CrossFit was an easy sell for Tom. Over five years ago, with the support of his sister, he took his first class and was immediately hooked! Despite facing seven minutes of burpees, the love affair with the sport of fitness began. Tom has been committed to physical fitness from as early as he can remember. He grew up playing competitive hockey, rep baseball, and running cross country. These sports provided him with the foundation for being passionate about and committed to living a healthy, active life.

While metabolic workouts have always been a focal point of Tom’s athletic résumé, this type of conditioning advanced when he became extremely competitive with adventure racing, mountain bike races, and running. Tom’s love for athleticism has always led him to be engaged with getting people active and aware of their own personal health. He spent years providing a platform for runners to improve their conditioning, coaching athletes through intense hill training and speed modules, and even pacing them during their half-marathon races.

Tom currently delivers group fitness training for Ontario Government staff through a program called Training with Tom (TWT) or as newcomers describe it, “Torture with Tom.” TWT provides an environment for people to be active and healthy during their workday and has convinced many that setting aside time for their own personal growth and needs is essential to being healthy and happy.

More recently, Tom has joined the team of high-calibre coaches at AIO. Becoming a coach at AIO has united Tom’s passion for CrossFit with his personal commitment to elevating people’s interest in physical and mental health self-improvement.
