Coach

John Panousis

John has always been active and resourceful. Growing up in a working-class family with four brothers, sports were a constant part of life even when money was tight. While his parents prioritized Greek school as an extracurricular, John found his own outlet at the Parkdale Community Centre, where free boxing lessons introduced him to a lifelong love of movement. It was there he discovered burpees and jump rope — two of his favorite CrossFit movements to this day.

As a teen, John also swam competitively before and after school, specializing in long-distance events like the 800 and 1600 meters. Later, his passion for boxing grew stronger, and he joined a local gym, cleaning floors in exchange for lessons from the owner. That same work ethic eventually evolved into his own successful cleaning business.

Like many parents balancing work and family, John’s fitness took a back seat for a while. He felt constantly tired, low on energy, and, in his words, “old.” But just before turning 40, John rediscovered his drive. A single CrossFit class reignited his love for training, and within a year of consistent effort and proper nutrition, he completely transformed his body and mindset.

Over the past decade, John has dedicated himself to learning about nutrition and effective training methods for adults over 35. Today, his passion lies in helping others rediscover their own strength and vitality through functional fitness.

Despite a new hip, shoulder surgery, and the normal wear and tear of life, John continues to train, coach, and compete always leading by example. His mission is simple: to serve his community, keep learning, and help others become the strongest version of themselves.
